MS Dhoni has finally addressed the speculation surrounding his retirement plans immediately after IPL 2023. Following Chennai Super Kings’ impressive victory over the defending champions Gujarat Titans in the Qualifier 1, which secured their record 10th IPL final appearance, Dhoni was posed a direct question by renowned commentator Harsha Bhogle. Referring to CSK’s last match at home this season and the upcoming final in Ahmedabad, Bhogle asked, “Will you come and play here in Chepauk again? Although Dhoni did not give a direct answer, he indicated that he will not be making any decisions regarding his career right after the conclusion of the IPL.
“I don’t know. I have a period of eight to nine months to make a decision. The mini auction will take place in December, so why burden myself with that decision right now? I have sufficient time to contemplate. Whether it’s in a playing capacity or from somewhere else, I will always be there for CSK,” Dhoni expressed during the post-match presentation ceremony.
“To be honest, it takes a toll. I have been out of form for nearly four months now. I finished my work on January 31st and started practicing again in early March. It’s demanding, but I have ample time to make a decision.”
