Sachin Tendulkar expressed his confidence in the Oval pitch, highlighting its favorable conditions for spinners. While the surface may not necessarily be a turning track, Tendulkar noted that the pitch offers some bounce and zip, which can work in favor of the spinners. With R. Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja as strong spin options in the Indian squad, Tendulkar believes that they can find reassurance in the pitch conditions.
“The Indian team will be pleased to play at the Oval, where the pitch tends to assist spinners as the match progresses. Spinners will come into play to some extent. It doesn’t always require a turning track, as spinners can rely on the bounce and the little bit of zip they extract from the pitch. The overhead conditions and the shiny side of the ball also play a crucial role,” Tendulkar further explained.
