The match between two of the top teams of IPL 2020, Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals went on till the last over, but the match wasn’t quite the thriller it promised to be. Mumbai Indians had a relatively easy win against Delhi Capitals marked by five wickets.
A brilliant bowling line up added to the effective half centuries scored by Quinton de Kock and Suryakumar Yadav contributed to the magnificent win which led to Mumbai Indians leaving behind Delhi Capitals to gain the top position on the Indian Premier League’s points table. They achieved the target in 19.4 overs. The excellent performance by the bowlers made the chase quite easy for their batsmen
Delhi Capitals fell on the weaker side additionally due to the absence of one of their best batsmen and wicket keeper Rishabh Pant owing to his injury. However, after their winning streak in the last matches of IPL 2020 so far, we will have to see if Mumbai Indian’s captain Rohit Sharma decides to retain the winning combination or devise a different strategy ahead of their match with Kolkata Knight Riders this Friday.
So far in IPL 2020 we have seen Mumbai Indians being extremely consistent in their team selection and it seems unlikely that it would change for the match scheduled on 16th October. Mumbai Indian’s captain Rohit Sharma does not seem very fond of changing his team time and again so we can expect the same line-up on field against Kolkata Knight Riders.
All players forming the top order of Mumbai Indians IPL team have scored fairly well in the Indian Premier League 2020 uptil now. Rohit Sharma, Quintonde Kock, Suryakumar Yadav, Ishan Kishan, Kieron Pollard, Hardik Pandya as well as Krunal Pandya have all shown their mettle on field. However, allowing Pollard to precede Kishan after the tenth over could work well for the team. A common trait seen with MI IPL team 2020 is that they tend to save their excellent middle order for the last five overs which is a risky strategy and can go either way.
MI’s bowling line-up comprising Trent Boult, James Pattinson, Rahul Chahar, Jasprit Bumrah and Krunal Pandya has been doing excessively well too by keeping things under control while bowling and picking up early wickets quite often. The defending champions Mumbai Indians despite having a slow start are expected to go ahead with their current winning combination to continue retaining their position on top of the points table. It will be exciting for cricket enthusiasts to watch if this line-up is able to deliver a powerful performance on pitch once again against Kolkata Knight Riders.
