Mumbai Indians, unlike some of the other franchises, are not going into the IPL auction with a huge budget (13.05 cr). They have got 7 spot left with 2 slot being overseas. Earlier this year, they have drafted and swapped players like Trent Boult and Shefrane Rutherford from Delhi Captials. As of now, they have retained 16 players and released 7 players.

Piyush Chawla:

Although they have all the basis covered but when it comes to an experienced spinner, they are a bit cut short. Rahul Chahar and Krunal Pandya have done well for them last season, but they helped in choking out the runs. With Piyush Chawla released by KKR, they could through the hammer at the experienced campaigner. He is an attacking spinner who can potent their bowling lineup, also he could bowl those crucial overs in powerplay as well as death.

Spinners in the squad: Rahul Chahar, Krunal Pandya, Anukul Roy and Jayant Yadav.

Chris Morris:

Ahead of the 2020 auction, MI released Cutting, and now there is a possibility that they might show interest in buying another all-rounder for the backup of Hardik Pandya who will be coming back from a back surgery. Hence, Chris Morris could be a handy option for the defending champions.

The right-hander was released by Delhi Capitals (DC), with his skillful death bowling and Striking ability from the word go, he can be the real deal for the Mumbai.

Fast bowling Allrounder in the squad: Hardik Pandya and Kieron Pollard

Deepak Hooda:

All-rounder Deepak Hooda was recently released by Sunrisers Hyderabad. Mumbai Indians have always been known for banking on local talent. However, they have developed a habit of losing cluster of wickets in the middle oversovers. So he could be the solution of this middle muddle as he had a decent domestic track record this season. With Hardik injury under the scanner, his hitting abilities could come handy for the Mumbai.

Spin Allrounder in the squad: Krunal Pandya, Jayant Yadav

It’s hard to see Mumbai not making the playoffs this time around as well but a lot will depend on Rohit, Bumrah, Hardik and the Picks from this auction. If anything, they enter the auction with most of their bases covered.
