Daniel Vettori, the assistant coach of Australia, has a belief that R Ashwin may not be included in the playing XI for the final of the ICC World Test Championship.

Australia anticipates the inclusion of Ravindra Jadeja in India’s playing XI for the World Test Championship final, but they remain uncertain about the participation of Ravichandran Ashwin in the prestigious match set to commence on June 7 at The Oval. During the recent Border-Gavaskar Trophy series, India deployed three spinners, with both Ashwin (25 wickets) and Jadeja (22) delivering remarkable performances that contributed to their team’s victorious 2-1 series outcome.

Speaking to local media ahead of Australia’s training session at the Kent County Cricket Ground in Beckenham on Thursday, assistant coach Daniel Vettori revealed that the team management had engaged in extensive discussions regarding India’s potential bowling attack.

“We have been deliberating on that,” stated Vettori. Due to his batting skills and past success at number six, I believe Jadeja will make it into the playing XI. The decision now lies between selecting either Shardul Thakur or Ashwin as the fourth seamer and all-rounder.”

Vettori suggests that Ashwin may not be chosen due to team dynamics, even though he is a highly skilled bowler who would normally be a top pick for most teams.
