Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli have proven to be consistently outstanding performers for the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the 2023 Indian Premier League (IPL) season. Not only have they complemented each other with their batting prowess, but they have also been pillars of support off the field. In an exclusive interview with NDTV, RCB captain Faf du Plessis expressed his deep admiration for Kohli, not just as a player but also for his character outside of the game.
Du Plessis highlighted Kohli’s immense passion as his most striking trait. “Virat’s passion is truly remarkable. I have always enjoyed competing against him. The intensity he brings to every wicket, even if it’s a number 11 batsman getting out, is at a 10-out-of-10 level. I’m amazed by his unwavering passion for the game of cricket. Now that we are on the same team, I can confidently say that playing alongside him is even better than playing against him,” Du Plessis shared during the conversation.
The South African cricketer emphasized that he would always choose to play with Kohli rather than against him, as Kohli’s passion on the field can ignite a similar fire within opponents as well.
“When you face him as an opponent, sometimes that passion can also inspire you. I’ve experienced it from the other side. But when you play with him, it’s truly special. Batting alongside him, you can feel that infectious passion, and it motivates you to give your absolute best every single time. It’s been a wonderful experience getting to know the person behind the cricketer. He is incredibly generous, kind-hearted, and family-oriented, just like me. We have developed a strong friendship. We share many common interests, such as our dedication to family, passion for the game, and even tattoos,” Du Plessis shared, highlighting their bond.
