It was a tale of contrasting centuries as both Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill reached triple-digit scores for their respective teams in the final league game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Gujarat Titans. Despite already securing their place in the playoffs, the Gujarat Titans showed no mercy towards the Bengaluru franchise, who needed a victory to stay in the tournament.

Kohli believed his record-breaking 7th century in the T20 league would be enough, but Gill’s second consecutive hundred propelled the Gujarat Titans to a comfortable 6-wicket victory. Understandably frustrated after RCB’s defeat, Virat Kohli’s reaction clearly conveyed his emotions.

Kohli displayed an impressive performance, scoring a 61-ball 101 in Royal Challengers Bangalore’s total of 197 for five. It appeared to be the standout effort of the day. However, Gill, who is poised to be the future of Indian batting for the next decade, showcased his superiority.

Gill’s unbeaten 104 off 52 deliveries effortlessly guided the Gujarat Titans to chase down the target. Remarkably, this was also Gill’s second consecutive century. Here’s how Kohli reacted following RCB’s elimination from the tournament:
