The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, in its 16th season, is set to conclude on May 28 after an intense two-month journey. Throughout this period, the ten franchises fiercely competed, with some teams outperforming others. Numerous batsmen showcased exceptional performances during the tournament, distinguishing themselves as the best among their peers. We witnessed instances where teams struggled to cross the 140-run mark, while on other occasions, successful chases of 200+ runs took place.

The chase master, Virat Kohli, and Shubman Gill both recorded two and three centuries, respectively, this season. Suryakumar Yadav, Cameron Green, Venketesh Iyer, Harry Brook, and Heinrich Klaasen each scored one century, highlighting their outstanding performances. Additionally, it was a remarkable feat as Yashasvi Jaiswal and Prabhsimran Singh, two uncapped batters, both scored hundreds in the same edition of the league. Following these remarkable displays, Virender Sehwag shared his selection of the top five batsmen of the tournament.

“Here are my chosen five Pandavas. I have not included many openers since they have ample opportunities. The first name that comes to my mind is Rinku Singh. And you don’t need to ask why. It’s because he achieved the extraordinary feat of winning a match for his team by hitting five consecutive sixes. The second middle-order batsman is Shivam Dube. With his strike rate of over 160 and 33 sixes, he has showcased a clear mindset of hitting big this season,” Virender Sehwag shared with Cricbuzz.

“The third choice is an exceptional opener. Yashasvi Jaiswal has left a lasting impression with his brilliant batting performances. Next is SKY, Suryakumar Yadav. I’m selecting him because despite his initial struggles, he turned things around and performed exceptionally well in the IPL. Finally, the last pick can be anyone due to the abundance of talent. However, I have decided to go with another middle-order batsman, Klaasen. His ability to tackle both spin and pace is a rare quality to find in a foreign player,” he concluded.
