Ravi Shastri, the former head coach of the Indian cricket team, has expressed the significance of Mohammed Shami’s presence in the World Test Championship (WTC) final for Team India. Shastri compared India’s bowling unit to Australia’s and emphasized the potential impact of match fitness, particularly for Indian bowlers who have transitioned directly from a demanding tournament.
“When evaluating the pace attack, I would consider it on par if Jasprit Bumrah were present, forming an attack with Mohammed Shami, Bumrah, and Mohammed Siraj. However, the Australian attack featuring Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins, along with the aspect of match fitness, could come into play. Having some cricket under your belt and enduring six hours of play over five days is distinct from bowling in nets for two hours each day. Shami could be crucial given his recent involvement in a significant amount of cricket,” Shastri expressed during the show.
