Brendon McCullum, the coach of England’s Test team, has been given the all-clear by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) regarding a potential breach of their anti-corruption code. The investigation centered on his involvement with an online betting company, 22Bet, which is based in Cyprus. Despite appearing in several of their online advertisements, the New Zealander has been cleared and will face no further action.
The ECB prohibits anyone participating in or encouraging betting on matches, including players, coaches, and officials, prompting an inquiry into McCullum’s connection with the company after a video promoting 22Bet’s Indian Premier League markets was posted on his official Facebook page last month.
